Do You Replace or Reface?
The Question is do I Replace or Reface? There are 2 basic Questions that you must ask yourself. Am I just taking off and putting back or am I making more changes than a Half and Half Reface. I will explain about that
later. Now...Is the storage space in your existing kitchen satisfactory and not damaged on the inside? Then it is quite possible that all you need to do is a reface. My style of refacing consists of this application. Not only do you get the new doors and new drawer fronts like everybody else supplies. But what I do with the cabinet itself is the real difference. The trim that holds the door onto the box is called a Front Frame and it is made out solid material (whether it be Oak or ash or maple or whatever) I pop off that front frame and replace it with a new one. I DO NOT sand down and veneer over the old frame with Laminate( this is not a lasting product in my 30 years of experience) Then the box treatment I use 1/4" plywood veneer of the same
wood grain and cover the boxes with it, even under the upper cabinet so the finished look is everywhere outside the box. Also included in my work is new drawer
boxes. The sides are made from 1/2" solid northeastern soft maple and I use a white melamine bottom so you don't have to paper it for protection. Incidentally I stand behind my drawers and have a life time guarantee. If anything happens to the slide or the installation of the drawer I will repair the drawer free(Drawer Bottoms excluded).Crown Moldings are added to the tops of the upper cabinets to give that much better finished look. |

I will now explain a Half and Half reface. This means that some of the cabinets are Refaced and some are Replaced or Modified. Remember I am also a Cabinetmaker so I can build anything I want. Pull-out Shelves can be added, Lazysusan Corners and so on. There are a number of possibilities that can be done to your kitchen once I have had a chance to do an In-House Inspection. So give me a call to set up a free estimate and I personally will visit you to explore the possibilities. |
